Jack Aluminium has donated products for a heart-warming project undertaken by Sherwood Stainless Steel & Aluminium Ltd, which saw a sensory room built for a five year old boy living with SWAN Syndrome.
When Simon, one of Sherwood’s Shift Managers, wanted to create a sensory room for his disabled son, the company stepped in to help in whatever way it could. Sherwood reached out to Jack Aluminium Systems, one of its long-standing customers, who partnered with the team for the project and kindly provided its JCW Curtain Wall and TW70 Windows free of charge.
The aim of the extension was to create a sensory room with plenty of natural light and clear views of their garden, both of which will aid in Simon’s sons neurological development.
SWAN Syndrome is often referred to as an unknown or undiagnosed genetic condition. Every child suffering from SWAN syndrome is different, meaning each of them will suffer from an array of symptoms and be affected by the condition differently. Some may have learning difficulties or complex medical issues.
The wide glazed areas and 50mm sightlines of the JCW Curtain Walling System made it the perfect system for the new-build, alongside its high security and thermal performance qualities. To complete the project, the TW70 thermally-efficient window system offered additional lighting from the roof of the extension, maximising the amount of natural light in the family’s extended space.
Talking about the importance of the project, Steve Causer, Sales Development Manager at Sherwood Stainless Steel & Aluminium Ltd, said: “To be able to play a part in helping Simon and his son has been a pleasure. The sleek and non-intrusive glazing from Jack Aluminium looks incredible and has enabled the new sensory room to be flooded with natural light, something that was a deeply important goal of the entire project.
“Jack Aluminium’s product range is vast and offers outstanding quality, so it was a no-brainer to contact them at the beginning of the project. We were even more delighted when the team offered to provide the product free of charge – it’s another testament to what a great company it is.”
Andy Short, Director at Jack Aluminium, said: “When we heard about Simon’s situation, we were more than happy to lend a hand. Our products not only provide a high-quality performance, but they will fill the family’s extended space with an abundance of light that is exactly what they were looking for – providing a space with the purpose of solely working on improving and aiding Simon’s sons development.”
