Jack Aluminium has supplied products for a fantastic new refurbishment at Artcore, a renowned arts centre in Derby.
As part of a huge two-stage regeneration scheme developed by Artcore founders Ruchita Shaikh Shah and Zahir Shaikh, Jack Aluminium have partnered with installer SuperSlim Glazing to deliver a complete refurbishment of the building’s façade and internal space.
Located in the heart of Derby city centre, Artcore is a community arts hub where people of all ages can come together to take part in various creative classes with no barrier to ability or experience.
The refurbishment included the installation of Jack Aluminium’s TD68 Thermal Door and Shopfront system, which offers excellent security and thermal efficiency for high-usage commercial buildings.
Will Woods, Director of SuperSlim Glazing Ltd, said “Artcore was a perfect fit for the TW70 window system. With glazing heights of up to 3m, the system was ideal for maintaining the openness of the design space. The biggest strength of Jack Aluminium products is that they can deliver everything a customer needs. They offer outstanding durability and thermal efficiency whilst still being one of the easiest systems on the market to fabricate.”
Speaking about the unique challenges of Artcore’s refurbishment, Will added “the frames themselves actually had to be bent to create the arched windows. But when paired with the building’s curved façade, the end result looks spectacular.”
Internally, SuperSlim utilised Jack Aluminium’s JCW curtain walling suite to create the internal partitions. The sleek and non-intrusive glazing maintains the open, collaborative feel of the room and allows the building to be flooded with natural light, which is hugely important for any art space.
“We are looking forward to stage two of the project, which will include the renovation of our exhibition space,” said Ruchita. “We can’t wait to open up the new gallery to the community and continue the great work we do here at Artcore.”
